1&1 Announces Dedicated Server Enhancements for Web Hosting

1&1 Internet, Inc., has unveiled a wide range of new and upgraded features for its Root, Windows and Managed Server packages that will offer users optimal value, added power and maximum performance.

Highlightsof 1&1’s comprehensive server enhancements include increasedbandwith, a 50 percent price reduction on additional transfer volumeand a free, full-disk-size FTP backup, along with a strengthenedfirewall, new Serial Console, GeoTrust Dedicated SSL Certificate, RootServer Re-Image and Windows Rescue Image. Also, each 1&1 serverpackage will continue to include a Productivity Software Suite worth$600 at no extra cost.

The specifics of 1&1’supgrades include an increased bandwith on all servers of up to 1,500 GBand a memory upgrade of up to 2,048 MB DDR-RAM. 1&1 has alsoreduced the purchase price of extra bandwith to 49-cents per gigabyte.The new 1&1 Serial Console gives users access to their serverthrough an SSH client, even if the network connection is interrupted.The full-disk-size FTP means users will have enough backup space tomatch their hard drive size, so they can easily backup and protect alldata.

Based on Cisco hardware, the new external 1&1Firewall is fully configurable and filters traffic to prevent attacksbefore they even reach a user’s server. For added security, 1&1 isincluding one GeoTrust Dedicated SSL Certificate with all servers, andoffering additional certificates for just $49 per year. The new RootServer Re-Image offers users the opportunity to replace thepre-installed system with alternative pre-configured Linux-basedoperating systems through their 1&1 Control Panel. Finally, 1&1is including a Windows Server 2003 Rescue Image feature which providesthe ability to repair and restore damaged systems via a Java-compatibleor VNC client.
