1&1 Internet Customer Survey Finds Personal Websites Are an Effective Way to Keep in Touch Over the Christmas Period

20th October 2003, Slough - 1&1 Internet, the World’s largest web hosting company, today announced findings of a customer survey that looked at the usage of personal websites over last year’s Christmas period. The survey found that 66% of personal website owners surveyed increased their usage over Christmas 2002, with over two thirds using functions such as Pictures and Photos, Webmail, POP3s or Forum entries to communicate with friends and loved ones during that time. 74% wished that more family and friends had personal websites.

The survey, which examined the experiences of a group of 101 personal website owners, also found that 42% of users had established friendships as a result of their personal websites and 89% believed that personal sites are a good way to keep in touch with friends and loved ones.
