In the months since AITDomains.com introduced its Virtual Domain Registrar program (aitdomains.com/vrprogram), it has become a cash cow for dozens of Internet entrepreneurs and resellers.

Several have used it to register, renew, or transfer hundreds ofdomains, and some enterprising customers have more than 5,000 domainsunder their accounts. “The user creates the pricing structure, controlsthe registration process, and owns the customer in every substantiveway,” says James Steger, Product Manager for the program. “The programis white-labeled, so AITDomains.com is transparent to the end user,though there is a support system for virtual registrars.” Entry intothe program is just a dollar; the only other cost is the AITDomains.comwholesale rate which resellers can mark up as they see fit.

The Virtual Domain Registrar works for all top-level domains, theadministration area makes for easy customer management, and itintegrates easily into a user’s existing control panel. It is a naturalcompliment to anyone offering hosting, e-commerce, and other ‘virtual’IT services. “Domain registration remains a busy market, for companiesalready on line and those new to the Internet,” said Clarence Briggs,CEO of AITDomains.com’s parent company, hosting provider AIT. “A lot ofbusinesses register their name with multiple extensions, and many alsoregister sound-alike names. This solution makes users independentregistrars, and puts them in position to grab a share of the market.”

AITDomains.com has also lowered its bulk rates for registrars who wantto do volume business. “There is a tiered pricing structure based onthe number of domains involved and it applies to all TLD’s,” saysSteger. “Obviously, the more domains that are involved, the lower theper-unit price and that’s starting with already-low rates.”
