Cambridge, Massachusetts - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - May 23, 2007 - Domain name marketplace, Sedo, has recently received two key reader-voted awards from Domain Name Wire: Top Domain Parking Service and Best Place to Sell Domains.

Sedo was the clear leader in both categories. For Top Domain Parking service, it received 32 percent of the vote, with the next highest competitor receiving 14 percent. In the Best Place to Sell Domains category, the margin of victory was even higher, with 36 percent of readers choosing Sedo and a mere nine percent selecting the next highest competitor.

Andrew Allemann, Edtor of Domain Name Wire remarked, ”Sedo proved innovative with its parking services this year, which is reflected in the survey results. It also added its popular auction feature for domain sales. Many sellers are finding the auction format an ideal way to get exposure for domains and sell at the right price.”

Matt Bentley, Chief Strategy Officer at Sedo added, ”This announcement is major validation that we are doing the right things in the parking space and continue to excel as a marketplace for secondary domains. We look forward to bringing even greater value to professional domainers for the remainder of 2007 and beyond, and thank Domain Name Wire for the opportunity to participate in the awards.”

Sedo, (acronym for ”Search Engine for Domain Offers”), is an online marketplace for buying and selling domain names and websites. Sedo began in 2001, as a student project among three friends: Tim Schumacher, Ulrich Priesner, and Marius Wrzner. The trio distributed computer games through the website offensiv.de. After the business was phased out, the students considered selling it, which laid the foundation for Sedo: ‘’search engine for domain offers.” Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Sedo has assembled what it believes is the world’s largest database of domain names for sale, with more than four million listings. Buyers and sellers are brought together through a searchable online marketplace, and conduct negotiations anonymously using an offer-counteroffer system. To facilitate successful transactions, Sedo has introduced a range of related services, including domain name escrow/transfer services, domain name appraisals, a domain brokerage service and paid domain name parking. Sedo’s model has attracted a global membership base of more than 355,000 domain professionals, and more than 7 million listings. Sedo offers regional versions of its site for the UK (Sedo.co.uk), France (Sedo.fr), Germany (Sedo.de), and Spain (eSedo.com).
