Vancouver, Washington - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - August 16, 2006 - Dotster, Inc., ICANN-accredited domain registration and web hosting company, has released a Virtual Private Server (VPS) offering, featuring disk space ranging from 10 GB to 50 GB, bandwidth ranging from 500 GB to 2,500 GB, and 1, 2, or 8 dedicated IP addresses.

VPS does not force multiple users to share a single file system, which distinguishes it from shared hosting. Without the cost of a dedicated server, VPS is designed to deliver the benefits of a private environment with its own independent operating system, web server, mail server, and software instances. VPS customers essentially become the hosting company of their web sites, allowing for more creative freedom and reducing expenses. VPS offers the liberty to run multiple custom applications and programming language versions, giving developers a competitive advantage without the expense of a dedicated server.

Dotster’s Linux VPS plans start at $29.95 per month, and provide root access, powered by Virtuozzo technology, giving customers the ability to reboot servers independently. Virtuozzo partitions physical servers into virtual private servers, each with its own root access, users, IP addresses, memory, processes, files, applications, system libraries, and configuration files. Controlling the Virtuozzo platform is the industry-leading Plesk 8 control panel. Through a web-based interface, Plesk 8 allows VPS customers to set up and manage multiple websites, email accounts, DNS entries, and databases including MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Dotster is launching three Linux based VPS plans. The plans feature disk space ranging from 10 GB to 50 GB, bandwidth ranging from 500 GB to 2,500 GB, and 1, 2, or 8 dedicated IP addresses. All the packages host 30 domains, however customers can upgrade to 100 domains for $3.75 per month or unlimited domains for only $7.50 per month. Other upgrades are also available, including Dr. Web Anti-Virus software and the Plesk Powerpack, which includes an anti-spam package, Tomcat support, and a robust application repository.

Clint Page, Chief Executive Officer of Dotster explained, ”Dotster’s new VPS offering gives individuals and businesses the reliability, scalability, and security of hosting on an enterprise-quality dedicated server. With a VPS, customers save money while still realizing the competitive advantages and revenue potential of owning their own server.”

Dotster’s VPS plans provide full root access, enabling customers to resell web sites, each with its own branded control panel and unique skin, to their own clients as well. Most notably, Dotster’s VPS services empower its customers as individuals and businesses become their own hosting companies.

Dotster provides a full suite of Internet services to helps its customers turn domain names into successful websites. Recently, the company added several new services to its core hosting suite, including MyInternet, a custom website design service and Local Site Promotion for regional businesses to effectively utilize search engines.

With nearly three million Internet domains, Dotster is one of the largest ICANN-accredited domain name registration and hosting companies in the world. Launched in 2000, Dotster was among the first to offer long-term domain registrations and discounted pricing.
