Domain name registration provider Register.com, Inc. (register.com) announced on Tuesday that its set of e-commerce tools and resources for small businesses, starting at $5 per month, can help retailers set up online in time for the holidays.

Register.com says it can help small business customers build e-commerce presences, whether it involves setting up a Web site, adding a basic shopping cart or adding comprehensive e-commerce features to an existing site.

The company currently offers Web sites without automated e-commerce capabilities, as well as two approaches to transaction-based Web sites. Register.com’s Web hosting with shopping cart includes a basic shopping cart feature for businesses that expect to conduct fewer than 20 orders per week. When a site visitor makes a purchase from an online store, the retailer is notified via email on the order and payment details, and then processes the account manually.

Web hosting with e-commerce is catered to businesses that expect strong online sales and helps customers build a store catalogue step-by-step and process credit card orders in real time. It is offered in packages of 200MB of disk storage for $34.95 per month, 650MB for $89.95 per month, or 1500MB for $199.95 per month, with data transfer limits of 15GB, 45GB and 120GB respectively.

“Register.com is committed to delivering the types of services that are accessible to small businesses and help level the playing field,” says Peter Forman, president and CEO of Register.com. “For less than what most businesses pay in electric bills every month, a company can have a Web site that allows customers to make purchases online, increases revenue, fosters customer loyalty, and builds brand awareness to larger audiences.”
