E-Commerce and Security, Focus of MasterCard Risk Symposium

Huntington Beach, California - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - July 19, 2007 - Over 250 senior security professionals from financial services, law enforcement and other related industries, converged at MasterCard’s Fifth Annual Global Risk Management Symposium, a three-day conference focused on exploring the security techniques, technologies and best practices for preventing and mitigating payment card fraud.
Joshua Peirez, Chief Payment System Integrity Officer at MasterCard Worldwide remarked, ”The Global Risk Management Symposium is a unique opportunity to gather the individuals who are dedicated to protecting our payments network and reducing fraud. This year’s conference theme, ”Navigating the Future of Commerce,” endeavored to address the industry-wide effort to combat fraud will evolve as the global payments network increases in size and complexity. MasterCard security and risk symposia provided a forum for top experts to share best practices and strive toward the development of advanced fraud prevention and detection techniques.
Mr. Peirez remarked, ”A chief tenet of MasterCard’s commitment to enhancing the integrity of the global payments network is the understanding that collaboration and innovation are critical to success. This annual symposium is but one facet of our broad payment card security initiative which provides a platform for all stakeholders to work together to safeguard payment account data.”
Mr. Peirez, in his new role as MasterCard’s Chief Payment System Integrity Officer, shared his insights on the security challenges faced by the electronic payments industry. Formerly group executive of global public policy and associate general counsel for MasterCard Worldwide, in this newly created role dedicated to defining and executing payment system security strategy, Mr. Peirez has oversight of the following areas: Fraud Management, Security and Risk Services, Global Information Security, Chip Security, Compliance and Chargeback Management, and PCI, SecureCode and other e-commerce security programs.
Mr. Peirez brings deep payments and security experience gained while overseeing integrated legal support for the United States, Canada, Asia Pacific, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America and Caribbean Regions, as well as the Security and Risk, and Franchise Management areas of MasterCard. He was also responsible globally for the Public Policy, Consumer Education, Regulatory Strategy and Legislative Affairs functions. Peirez built MasterCard’s Compliance function focusing on Anti-money laundering, Privacy, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and Office of Foreign Asset Control compliance worldwide.
