Excedent Technologies announced today that its private-label reseller, The Cobalt Group, is offering Excedent’s hosted email solutions to General Motors. The Cobalt and Excedent partnership continues to expand its reach and drive growth for both companies within the automotive retail space.

Cobalt currently provides email hosting to more than 1,000 automotive retailers worldwide, and that number is growing rapidly as the company continues to roll out Excedent email services to all of its 15,000 customers. This announcementcomes just weeks after The Cobalt Group announced the launch of GM PowerShift, the next generationWeb site solution program that helps GM dealerships manage their online retail business. As part of the PowerShift package, Cobalt will offer email hosting powered by Excedent.

“The dealers told us that they needed personalized email accounts, but didn’t want to bear the administrative costs required to host and manage internal messaging systems,” explained Matt Muilenberg, director of business development at The Cobalt Group. “Our partnership with Excedent allows us to meet the needs of our customers,
focus on our core competencies and stay competitive in a messaging market that evolves quite rapidly.”

Cobalt and Excedent partnered more than two years ago to provide automotive retailers with locally branded email accounts and Webmail access. Cobalt, which provides e-business solutions specifically to automotive retailers, offers email hosting packages that include large mailboxes, virus protection and spam filtering, all hosted within
Excedent carrier-grade data centers in the United States.

As an Excedent Private-label Reseller, Cobalt also offers branded Webmail access and a customer control panel that fully integrates with other administrative functions provided with their Web service packages.

“Cobalt’s relationship with Excedent has added a great deal of value to our outsourcing proposition,” continued Mr. Muilenberg. “The adoption rate of their hosted email system has been fantastic and feedback from our customers has been very positive. We expect the same response as we continue to roll out the email solution to our current new customers such as General Motors. Excedent has done everything they said they were going to do, and more. We look forward to continued growth of this relationship for many years to come.”

The Web-based email service offered by Excedent features a comprehensive range of benefits that help meet the communications requirements of today’s automobile dealers, including:

- Domain-based email address (name@mycardealership.com)
- Remote email access from any Internet-connected location through a Cobalt-branded Webmail interface
- Compatibility with desktop client software such as Microsoft Outlook? and Eudora?
- Online management tools allowing customers to add and delete email accounts and aliases
- Comprehensive protection from spam, viruses and security threats
