Silver Spring, Maryland – (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) – February 24, 2006 – Free web hosting and site builder company, Freewebs, has welcomed new-comer Google to the web site publishing space.

According to Haroon Mokhtarzada, CEO of Freewebs, ”Freewebs is pleased to have been in the vanguard in addressing the needs of this evolving consumer market place. We welcome Google to the web site publishing space. For a giant like Google to focus on site building validates the importance of giving people the freedom to publish and manage their own websites.”

Freewebs is a global onlinecommunity of web publishers with more than 10 million users. Since 2001, over15 million web sites have been created using the free, do-it-yourself FreewebsSite Builder.

comScore Media Metrix data shows that Freewebs recorded more than 16 million unique visitors world wide and nearly half a billion page views in January of 2006 – reporting the second highest number of page views in the Web Hosting category and ranking among the top 150 most trafficked properties in the world.

According to Freewebs, Google’s offering allows users to create static web pages, while Freewebs empowers its users to create an interactive web presence, unifying blogs, audio and video capabilities, chat, e-commerce, and social networking in a single website.

Mr. Mokhtarzada explained, ”Freewebs has built its strong position in the web publishing industry around the world by offering free and easy-to-use tools.”

Freewebs was recently awarded the Standard of Excellence WebAward in the 2005 WebAward Competition, sponsored by the Web Marketing Association (WMA). According to the WMA, this award ”recognizes the standard of excellence for which all corporate web sites should strive.”

I can’t believe how big is the community at Freewebs… It is big market – big opportunity for us small webhosting companies.

Yes. It’s good Google now gives more tools to website builders. But they don’t have nearly as much as FreeWebs. Google has a wider spectrum of tools like http://GoogleKeywordTool.com. But personally, I think FreeWebs offers a much bigger site builder toolbox.

I’ve recommended FreeWebs to several webmasters that did not have a budget. Their banner ads are minimal, and can even be removed with a low-cost upgrade when the web owner is ready.
