AboveNet, Inc., a premier metro network access provider for businesses, announced today that it has been selected by HostMySite.com, a global Web hosting provider, to provide secure, high-speed, burstable Metro IP connectivity in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Using AboveNet’s Metro IP service, HostMySite.com will connect from AboveNet’s IP point-of-presence in Philadelphia to bring bandwidth to its recently opened second datacenter in Newark, Delaware.

AboveNet’s Metro IP service bypasses the private switched network and connects HostMySite.com to its IP backbone using a private, secure fiber optic connection to the AboveNet data center where they will link to AboveNet’s global IP backbone. Since HostMySite.com will have access to the entire fiber in the metro, rather than just a wavelength, the company is able to burst up to a Gigabit of traffic without interruption.
