New CleanMail Makes Customers’ Time and Security Top Priority

CHICAGO, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ — Hostway Corp., a leading provider of
Internet hosting and other managed technology services, today offered Web
users help in the battle against spam email and damaging email-borne viruses
with the introduction of CleanMail, a spam- and virus-blocking service
integrated into Hostway’s hosting services at no additional charge.
Hostway said the new service is available to its customers worldwide, and
will be included as a standard feature within all of its hosting and ecommerce
plans purchased by new customers.

Ferris Research recently estimated that spam cost U.S. organizations $10
billion in 2003 — and accounted for up to 20 percent of all inbound email to
U.S. businesses — as many as 110 unwanted messages per person each week.

down entire networks, businesses and consumers need to protect themselves from

CleanMail helps block spam by classifying email and stops viruses before
they can ever reach the intended recipient. Using advanced technology to
search emails for known spam elements, it labels these messages by including
"SPAM" directly in the subject line. This allows the recipient to quickly
identify which messages are potential spam without the risk of losing those
that are not.

It also checks all incoming email messages against frequently updated
virus definitions, hunting for suspicious viruses and attachments before they
enter the recipient’s inbox. If a virus is detected, the email is deleted and
a notification is sent to both the sender and intended receiver.
