Excellent post. I’m glad you mention doing keyword research in choosing a domain name. It’s something many people don’t consider. And if you take a look at my website, it’s something I didn’t really consider either.

However, search engines do give keyword rich domains more priority than non keyword rich domain names. Choosing a keyword specific domain name can help a great deal when it comes to ranking in the search engines, even if it’s a phrase match and not an exact match.

For those who look at what lengths Joomla ! has come during the last three years or so it is really nearly impossible to not be in amazement of the things they have already done. It is a nice report. It covers most issues.

Keep always in mind that to first try and get a .com domain if it is available. .com Domains always have a higher selling value. In the event that you sell your bussiness in the future, then a .com domain will add much more value to your portfolio.

I don’t 100% agree with simply getting a short domain. Selection between a short or keyword domain depend on your planned strategy that you will be using to get visitors to your site. If your business is a word of mouth type business, then yes try and find a short domain. If you expect to drive traffic to your site then a researched targeted key word for your domain will always give you regular targeted traffic. You can always as mentioned in the report buy a couple more keyword domains and redirect the traffic to your site.
