Cincinnati, Ohio - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - June 27, 2006 - Internet market research, analysis and business planning firm, Intralink, will publish, according to the company, one of the most comprehensive search engine studies ever released to the general public.
The second quarter report analyzed the results of over 4000 searches and more than 25,000 web sites. The release also includes a study of the search engine advertising market and additional search engine features.
Eric Gurr, CEO of Intralink commented, ”The big geographically dispersed companies like restaurant chains, pharmacy chains, real estate companies and others still do not leverage the advantage given to them by most of the search engines.” The study also indicates clearly that revenues for major market players will continue to rise.
Mr. Gurr added, ”Market penetration for sponsored search is still very low in most segments. In many segments we are seeing less than one half of one percent using sponsored search. As top spots are filled with more relevant results, competitors will be forced in to the pay-per-click market. The market is already starting to mature somewhat. We found several businesses from Dentists to auto dealers that dominate the search engine results in their respective geographic markets.”
In terms of relevance, MSN came out on top for the second quarter in a row. Google, however, performed much better this quarter due to the huge increase in the number of search terms analyzed and less emphasis on major metropolitan area business searches.
The study also found that the majority of web sites are not properly constructed to allow search engines to find them and relate content to searches. This is allowing smaller directory sites to exploit the gaps with advertising related pages and very little real content.
