MSNBC.com Selects Kanoodle as Exclusive Provider of Content-Targeted Sponsored Links

Internet’s Largest News Site Joins the ContextTarget(tm) Network

NEW YORK, March 24, 2004 - Kanoodle.com, Inc., a leading provider of sponsored listings for search and content, today announces that MSNBC.com, a leader in breaking news and original journalism on the Internet, has selected Kanoodle’s ContextTarget(tm) as its exclusive provider of content-targeted sponsored links.

Under the terms of the deal, Kanoodle will provide its ContextTarget sponsored links throughout MSNBC.com, which features partner content from NBC’s Dateline, the Today Show and Nightly News as well as Newsweek, The Washington Post and others.  Kanoodle will also provide sponsored links for MSNBC.com’s extensive original reporting, including news features and information on health, fitness, entertainment, technology, house and home and sports.

"Kanoodle’s ContextTarget offers the most relevant ads for our site because it relies on a topic-based targeting system, not a dynamic keyword guess, which we believe will add the most value for our users without jeopardizing our editorial integrity," said Charlie Tillinghast, General Manager, MSNBC.com.  "The Kanoodle team has a proven track record of effectively managing a large scale implementation and we’re looking forward to working with them."

This announcement comes shortly after MSNBC.com unveiled its redesigned site, including more original content alongside award-winning breaking news. MSNBC.com’s targeted pages, which include Health, Entertainment, Business, Technology and more, will give Kanoodle advertisers more ways to reach the right customers in the right places.

"Adding MSNBC to our ContextTarget network means our advertisers will now have access to one of the highest quality audiences on the Web," said Lance Podell, president of Kanoodle. "In fewer than three short months, we’ve quickly built an industry leading product that has been well received by advertisers and top-tier publishers like MSNBC."

Kanoodle’s ContextTarget places paid listings alongside content from some of the Web’s most respected sites including CBS MarketWatch.com, Quicken.com and The Motley Fool.  Their advertiser-centric approach empowers advertisers to plan, buy, measure and optimize content buys separately from search.  For publishers, Kanoodle protects editorial integrity, which guarantees that only relevant ads appear next to publishers’ content.  Additionally, their tools give access to real-time measurement of volume and traffic quality, providing the transparency and measurement necessary to unlock the value of sponsored links.
