Email senders can now reassure potential subscribers and customers that their email addresses will beprotected with ReleMail, a new service that audits and certifies email privacypractice that launched today.

ReleMail monitors an organization’s email practices and certifies thosethat meet stringent standards of privacy and professionalism. Rather thanrelying on anti-spam technologies like DomainKeys or SPF, ReleMail uses a teamof email investigators to secretly subscribe to clients’ email newsletters andmonitor resulting inbound emails for adherence to ethical email practices. The results of those investigations are publicly posted at Relemail.com, whereinternet users can check the current email privacy ratings for more than800 prominent organizations.

Organizations that meet all fifteen requirements can display the ReleMailseal on their website, reassuring website visitors that their email practicesare being constantly monitored and rated.

ReleMail was created by email industry veteran Mike Adams, the inventor ofthe first permission-based email marketing software for the PC, and founder ofArial Software (http://www.ArialSoftware.com). The service was launched in responseto strong customer demand for authentic, trusted certification for emailsenders. “The industry clearly needs a process through which ethical emailsenders can establish their reputations with potential subscribers,” Adamsexplains.

Adams isn’t alone in seeing the need for such a service. Influentialleaders in the email marketing industry have joined the ReleMail board ofadvisors to help shape the service, making sure it meets the needs of bothmailers and email recipients. Those board members include Debbie Weil ofWordbiz.com, Kim Macpherson of Inbox Interactive, Anne Mitchell of theInstitute for Spam and Internet Public Policy (ISIPP), Jeanne Jennings of theJennings Report (http://www.JeanneJennings.com), and corporate participants such asJim Diee (The Children’s Place) and Michael Crowdes (Dirt Devil).
