New Study by The Radicati Group Shows Renewed Demand for Hosted Email Services

Study Includes Market Trends, Market Numbers, Forecasts, Corporate Attitudes,
and Competitive Analysis on all segments of the Hosted Email Market

Palo Alto, CA – January 7, 2004. A new study by The Radicati Group, Inc., a market
research and consulting firm based in Palo Alto, CA, explores all segments of the hosted email
market, which currently accounts for about 64% of the world’s active email mailboxes.
The study includes detailed installed base and forecast estimates on five segments of the hosted
email market, including: Hosted Business Email Providers, Managed Business Email Providers,
ISPs, Webmail Providers, and Mobile Phone Email Providers.

According to the study, Hosted and Managed Business Email Providers generated about $2.3
billion in revenue in 2003. This figure is expected to reach $3.1 billion in 2007, driven by more
complex corporate IT environments, more stable and trustworthy service providers, and more
advanced collaborative messaging platforms fit for the hosted marketplace.

On the consumer side of the market, Webmail providers and ISPs are pushing out more
advanced email services, and finding that customers are increasingly willing to pay for them.
The future of this market is expected to be especially bright outside of North America and
Europe, in countries where Internet uptake is just beginning.
