Wellesley, Massachusetts - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - May 30, 2006 - Demandware customers achieved rapid ROI by improving merchandising and increasing profits while decreasing ongoing and one-time implementation costs, according to Nucleus Research, a global provider of IT research and advisory services.
The independent report evaluating the return on investment (ROI) of Demandware e-commerce platform customer implementations, states that in the last decade many retailers have made significant investments in e-commerce software, consulting, development and infrastructure to address a burgeoning online customer channel. However, as e-commerce functionality rapidly evolves, retailers found that their existing platforms require significant investments of time and money in order to adopt new e-commerce innovations. In addition, many existing platforms required infrastructure investment to support peak e-commerce traffic levels even during lower-volume periods, required significant consulting, development and integration costs for upgrades, and were unable to support multiple brands.
The Demandware e-commerce platform provides retailers with an on-demand e-commerce environment for developing and delivering e-commerce sites. The Nucleus Research report highlights how the on-demand e-commerce model addresses these issues. With a true on-demand delivery model, the vendor manages and supports its software externally and users access it using a web browser or thin client; thus, multiple customers access a single instance of the application. Customers benefit from avoiding support costs as well as the vendor’s ability to amortize the development, support, upgrade, and functionality improvement of the solution across multiple customers.
Rebecca Wettemann, Vice President of Research at Nucleus explained, ”As the e-commerce marketplace continues to compete for increasingly sophisticated customers, the winning retailers will be those that keep infrastructure and other costs low while still innovating in strategies to attract, retain and convert customers. Our ROI evaluation report on Demandware’s e-commerce platform found that retailers who wanted a sophisticated e-commerce environment that supported new functionality without the need to shoulder the cost of developing and supporting it themselves were able to do so with Demandware.”
