A September 2004 survey conducted by Netcraft (www.netcraft.com), a research and analysis company, has shown that GeoTrust Inc. (www.geotrust.com), a provider of identity verification solutions for e-business and SSL certificates for web security, has registered a 125 percent increase of installed base of SSL certificates year-on-year. Netcraft’s survey also indicates that during the same period, the overall market for SSL certificates grew by 53 percent. GeoTrust said that it issued a record number of client and SSL certificates in September 2004.

Neal Creighton, founder and chief executive officer of GeoTrust, said that the company continued its phenomenal growth, due not only to a market that was ripe for identity verification solutions, but because the company had the industry’s best certificate issuance process and a highly regarded brand. He noted that the demand for GeoTrust’s products validated customers needs for an alternative to VeriSign’s costly and time-consuming certificate offerings. Creighton added that it was not surprising that GeoTrust had surpassed VeriSign as the number one brand for SSL certificates in North America.
