Portland, Maine - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - November 4, 2005 - A new podcast delivers strategies to boost a website’s traffic and attract more potential customers. Entitled, “flytecast: Web Strategies for Small Business” the podcast was created by Rich Brooks, President of flyte new media, a web design and Internet marketing firm in Portland, Maine.
Brooks’ “podcast” - an audio talk show delivered via the Internet - outlines a assortment of interconnected strategies to boost a web site’s visibility and attract more prospective customers. The free program can be downloaded or listened to at flytecast.com or the iTunes Music Store under Podcasts > Business.
Aimed at small business, associations and “anyone with an entrepreneurial spirit,” as Brooks puts it, the first episode details the benefits and techniques for encouraging incoming links.
Mr. Brooks explained, ”When other web sites link to yours, it means more paths to your front door. Search engines also view links as votes of confidence. They assume your site contains high quality content if other sites, especially prominent ones, have links to it.”
Providing high quality content is the key to attracting incoming links.Quoting Mr. Brooks’ podcast, ”Share your expertise. Provide valuable information that’s worth linking to. Write articles, answer your customer’s most frequently asked questions. If you have a newsletter, post the best articles on your web site. Include any content that’s relevant and appropriate for your target customer.”
Brooks’ podcast also demystifies baffling concepts like “anchor text” and “keywords” and explains how to optimize your site to attract the most qualified traffic. ”If you’re a marriage counselor in Portland, Maine,” he explains, ”you’ll want to include those exact words — those keywords – in numerous places on your web site.”
The term “podcasting” combines the words “iPod” and “broadcasting.” That’s a little misleading, Brooks says. ”You don’t need an iPod to listen, and there’s no broadcasting, except over the Internet.” In essence, a podcast is any audio or video program which can be heard or viewed on any computer with an Internet connection, or downloaded to a portable mp3 or video player.
While still relatively obscure, podcasting is quickly emerging into the mainstream. A recent Yahoo! white paper found that 28% of Internet users are aware of podcasting, although only 2% currently subscribe to podcasts.
Fans of Brooks’ podcasts can subscribe by clicking the “RSS 2.0″ button at flytecast.com. That adds you to a syndication “feed” which automatically notifies users whenever Brooks uploads a fresh podcast.
In addition to podcasting, Brooks is an inveterate blogger. He not only writes flyte’s blog, which is filled with tips on search engine optimization, email marketing, and business blogs, he contributes to “Business Blog Consulting”, one of the most influential business blogs available.
When he’s not podcasting, blogging or speaking at industry gatherings, Brooks runs flyte new media, a Web design and Internet marketing firm created to help businesses grow online. Brooks says, ”We don’t build web sites, we build businesses.”
