Network Solutions and Register.com Sued for Infringement of Domain Name Patent

Nizza Group Claims That Registration of .Name Domain Names
and E-mail Addresses Infringes Newly Issued Patent

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ — Nizza Group, which last week
announced that it had been issued a key internet naming patent, today
announced that it has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the
Central District of California against Network Solutions, Inc. and
Register.Com, Inc. for infringement of that patent.

U.S. Patent No. 6,671,714, issued on December 30, 2003, covers the
issuance of URL’s and e-mail addresses to members of groups in the format of
"member.group.tld" and "member@group.tld" such that the URL and e-mail address
differ only in that in the URL the "@" of the e-mail address is replaced with
a "." in the URL.

Nizza Group’s complaint (Civil Action No. CV04-0119 GAF (CWx)) claims that
Network Solutions and Register.Com are infringing the patent by offering
registrations of domain names and e-mail addresses under the ".name" top-level
domain. The complaint seeks monetary damages and an injunction against
further infringement by the two domain name registrars.

The principals of Nizza Group and the co-inventors of the patent are Troy
K. Javaher and Frank M. Weyer, who have been involved in domain name and
internet businesses since 1998. Mr. Weyer is also an attorney specializing in
intellectual property litigation.
