Shopping.com Launches Consumer Demand Index to Reveal This Holiday’s Hottest Products
Leading Shopping Search Engine Releases Weekly Findings Based
on Record-Breaking Traffic
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ — Shopping.com, a leading comparison
shopping service that helps people use the power of information to make the
best shopping decisions, today launched its weekly Consumer Demand Index
(CDI). The Shopping.com CDI, updated weekly at http://www.shopping.com/cdi, charts
the hottest shopping search terms, reveals the week’s biggest gainers,
identifies a stand-out trend and offers a top ten list of brands and model
numbers for one of this season’s most in-demand products.
As analysts predicted, the Monday after Thanksgiving, known as "Black
Monday" to online retailers (December 1st this year) proved to be the busiest
day in history for online shopping. More than 2 million shoppers visited
Shopping.com on Monday, generating over 1.4 million customer leads. These
leads drove an estimated $12 million in sales for online merchants large and
small.
With more than ten million daily shopping searches across Shopping.com
during the holiday season, the service’s new Consumer Demand Index is a strong
indicator of which gift items will be most popular with the American public.
The weekly summary of shopping searches is a great tool for consumers who want
to know which products will be this season’s best sellers.
"Holiday shoppers looking for the perfect gift for that ‘hard-to-buy-for’
person can access our Consumer Demand Index to tap into the trends and see
this year’s hottest gifts," said Nirav Tolia, COO of Shopping.com. "The
Shopping.com CDI helps shoppers stay in touch with the ‘must have’ items
across all age groups so that they are sure to please family and friends."
This week, the Shopping.com CDI reveals that ‘old school’ toys are hot
again. The classic Radio Flyer Wagon is making a comeback in the age of Game
Boys and Yu-Gi-Oh Cards. A quick click to the CDI homepage at
http://www.shopping.com/cdi, also shows this week’s top shopping search terms and
major gainers, as well as the top ten popcorn makers — a "must have" for cold
winter nights in front of your home theater.
