Want To Resell Domain Names?
Not sure what company to use or even if you want to resell domain names? The 3 biggest companies that I believe when thinking of domain names are GoDaddy, eNom, and DirectI. This review will go over each company and compare and contrast each domain name’s reseller program that they offer.
First we will start with the most popular domain name company out there, GoDaddy. GoDaddy sells domain names to it’s regular customers for $8.95/year and sometimes run special offers for $7.95/year. They offer a reseller program called Wild West Domains and charge $99/year to have an account with them. They do all the credit card processing for your clients and also allow you to reseller web hosting as well. One minus on the reseller program is that, all the reseller sites look the same. So therefore it is quite easy to figure out who a GoDaddy reseller is. One plus on Wild West Domains is that they now accept PayPal which in web hosting is a must. However GoDaddy charges less to the public then they do to domain name resellers so they compete with their own resellers.
Second we will go over eNom which is also very popluar. They don’t charge a set up fee if you want to reseller domain names starting at $8.95 however they do charge set up fees if you want to resell domain names for less than that. They charge $30.00 for domain names to the public, so they don’t compete with their own resellers like GoDaddy does. They also accept PayPal, Checks, or Credit Cards for refills to your account. But they require at least $100 everytime you want to refill your account with Paypal or a credit card plus they charge a 3% processing fee on those transactions, making the PayPal account user not very happy when dealing with eNom, however if you perfer checks, then eNom is for you!
The last domain name company we will go over is DirectI. Which is also the domain name company I use to resell domain names. To start off on the minus side, they have a lot of downtime and are always having problems. They do accept PayPal and they do charge a small processing fee but don’t charge a min. fee so you can put in $5.00. For a free reseller accounts, you get .com, .net, and .org domain names at just $6.49 each. So you can sell domain names at $7.48 (less than GoDaddy) and make about a dollar profit.
Although I have an account with DirectI, I strongly suggest you use eNom as you will hear a lot of good reviews about them. DirectI has a lot of downtime and problems and GoDaddy trys to compete with it’s resellers. eNom has a lot of uptime and very few problems and doesn’t compete with it’s resellers.
