Out of all of the customers only 259 are still using a dial up connection. At present, there are 11,599,000 Internet users within the UK, of which only 5,300,000 are using broadband. Andrew Dollamore, CEO of Streamline.Net, who conducted the survey, remarked, ”These findings are very interesting on two levels. Firstly, it’s good to better understand our customers in order to target more accurately products and services more appropriate to their needs. Secondly, it illustrates the potential of up selling broadband users web hosting as the next natural step. There’s no denying that the gap between broadband and dial up is closing but the gap within the web hosting communality seems almost gone.”
