Scottsdale, Arizona - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - September 19, 2007 - Web hosting domain registrar, GoDaddy’s representative spokesperson, Valerie Thompson, has set a speed record, at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
The new record is 161.736 miles per hour. Ms. Thompson reportedly indicated that the Go Daddy motorcycle was built especially for the Bonneville Speedway’s 4th International Motorcycle Speed Trials in Utah.
Ms. Thompson explained, ”We specifically entered this class and had our Go Daddy bike built in order to get this record. We achieved what we set out to do, and it feels great.”
Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy.com commented, ”We knew Valerie would set the record. She lives to go fast and has the grit and the competitive determination to be the best in her profession. Her edginess and focus make her an ideal Go Daddy Girl.”
The two-wheeled speedster is a former investment banker, but Ms. Thompson’s not new to record-setting speed, having previously held the American Motorcycle Association’s World Land Speed Record at 145.647 mph. This new record was set in the same 2000 APS PF class on a 120-inch Panhead motorcycle. However, the Go Daddy bike had a special ”partial streamline setup” specifically made for the Salt Flats, instead of an asphalt surface. It also had nitrous oxide as a back-up fuel, which she used during her latest record run.
Bad weather conditions earlier this week also made the Salt Flats soft and unstable for the speed trials. Ms. Thompson added, ”I had only ridden this bike eight times leading up to this. I was relieved and excited! I felt relief to be able to finish safely and excitement the year’s worth of preparation paid off with the record.”
Ms. Thompson was featured in Go Daddy’s most recent Super Bowl commercial, alongside fellow Go Daddy Girls Candice Michelle and Danica Patrick. All three Go Daddy Girls are enjoying success these days. Candice, who starred in the legendary 2005 Go Daddy Super Bowl ad, is now the reigning WWE women’s wrestling champ. Danica posted her best finish yet in the Indy Racing League’s last race, taking second place at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix.
GoDaddy recently announced that it will sponsor ESPN TV’s Saturday night college football games, beginning Sept. 22. The deal makes GoDaddy.com the official presenting sponsor of the Saturday night games, which feature on-air announcements, logo placement and a number of commercials on the sports network and its affiliates, including ABC TV. The move comes after the company’s success as a broadcast sponsor for this year’s Indianapolis 500 Race and sponsorship of IndyCar driver and Go Daddy Girl Danica Patrick.
GoDaddy initially made a name for itself with its Super Bowl advertising, but is now moving into a new role as a marquee advertiser for collegiate football, attracted by its loyal audience and key demographic.
The sponsorship also includes air time for Go Daddy commercials during the NASCAR Nextel Cup, plus several college football bowls, including the Capital One, Liberty and Alamo Bowl games. GoDaddy.com kicks off its college football sponsorship on ESPN2, Saturday, Sept. 22 with a double-header featuring Kentucky vs. Arkansas, followed by Purdue vs. Minnesota.
Go Daddy plans to broadcast a variety of ads as part of the new deal, and its production company is working on two new commercials featuring an unnamed NFL star, reportedly ”GoDaddy-esque,” a media-coined phrase during censorship controversies involving Go Daddy’s risque ads, designed to be edgy, and ”a touch inappropriate,” according to Mr. Parsons.
ESPN/ABC TV has approved the commercial titled ”I Own You” to air as part of the sponsorship. As for whether GoDaddy.com will advertise in this year’s Super Bowl, Parsons says he’s still weighing his options and engaging in dialog about the decision on his web blog, www.bobparsons.com.
