Westlake Village, California - (via THE HOSTING NEWS) - August 17, 2005 - PriceRunner, the multinational comparison shopping engine of ValueClick, Inc., has announced a distribution partnership with FortuneCity, one of the world’s largest independent web hosting providers.
Through the agreement, PriceRunner will offer comparison shopping solutions for two of FortuneCity’s properties - FortuneCity.com, which offers web design and hosting, domain names, web logs and email address services, and MyPhotoAlbum.com, which allows members to create personalized online photo albums and print their photos.
Martin Andersen, General Manager of PriceRunner, U.S. commented on the new partnership, “We are excited to offer PriceRunner’s comprehensive shopping comparison engine to FortuneCity’s network of almost 4 million active web hosting and photo service users. This partnership promises great benefits to FortuneCity, PriceRunner and consumers.”
PriceRunner will power a fully co-branded comparison shopping solution for the FortuneCity.com network of sites. FortuneCity members, along with the millions of monthly web site visitors, will have access to the lowest price on thousands of products directly from their FortuneCity web pages.
In addition, PriceRunner will provide users with a wealth of product specifications and reviews, both from professionals as well as from everyday consumers like those on FortuneCity.com. PriceRunner will also allow FortuneCity members and consumers to review retail stores’ performance, enabling shoppers to make smarter purchasing decisions.
For MyPhotoAlbum.com, PriceRunner will offer a solution that enables members to compare prices and product information on highly relevant photography products directly from their personal online photo albums. Members will be able to quickly and easily compare prices on digital cameras, photo printers, compact cameras and memory cards, ensuring they pay the lowest prices for the photo and camera equipment they need.
FortuneCity CEO Peter Macnee commented, “We evaluated several prospective comparison shopping solutions,”but PriceRunner clearly provided the best solution for our users and site visitors. We expect that digital cameras will be the hottest holiday gift for the second consecutive year, a perfect match for our online photo album customers.”
Development of these services is currently underway, and is expected to be available to FortuneCity members by the end of August.
Since its official launch in the second half of 2004, MyPhotoAlbum has registered over 125,000 users that have uploaded more than 8 million digital photos. With MyPhotoAlbum’s unique customization features, users can easily create personalized albums to share their photos with friends and family. Users can store and print their photos, as well as use them to create fun gifts and greeting cards.
PriceRunner officially launched in the US market in June of 2005. Unlike other comparison shopping sites, PriceRunner puts the consumer first by presenting the broadest comparison of product prices - from both online and offline retailers - and by always listing the lowest priced retailer first. PriceRunner’s consumer-friendly focus stands out among other comparison shopping sites, which typically list products only from paying online retailers and sell the top listing to the retailer that pays the most for that position.
