The sessions are geared toward helping merchants and payment service providers protect consumer credit card data through increased alignment with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS). Payment Card Industry: Better Security Through the Data Security Standard was hosted by Denise Barnett, principal consultant, professional services, and Barbara Mitchell, manager, product management and development, both of Verizon Business, will explain the basic tenets of the PCI Data Security Standard and what it means for merchants and payment service providers.

The speakers examined how members of the payment card industry can demonstrate alignment with the PCI Data Security Standard, reduce the likelihood of cardholder data compromise and diminish the risk of incurring financial penalties for non-compliance with the standard. Additionally, they will highlight common misconceptions associated with the standard. An interactive question-and-answer session followed the presentation.
