Miami, Florida - (Cheap Web Hosting Directory) - April 16, 2008 - The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), has selected the peering and colocation services of Terremark, to host ICANN’s critical Internet infrastructure.
Terremark will house ICANN’s econd instance of the Global L-Root server cluster at Terremark’s flagship facility, the NAP of the Americas. ICANN is responsible for the global coordination of the Internet’s system of unique identifiers like domain names (like .org, .museum and country codes like .uk) and the addresses used in a variety of Internet protocols that help computers connect to each other over the Internet.
John Crain, Chief Technical Officer for ICANN noted, ”Because of the importance of ICANN in relation to the Global Internet Community, it has become critical for us to house our Global Root Domain Name System infrastructure in a secure and reliable facility that will provide us with greater accessibility as the Internet community continues to grow.
