Delhi-based IP communications provider Net4India has tied up with US firm NeuLevel to create the ‘.in’ domain registry in India.

NeuLevel has been assigned as the exclusive operator of ‘.biz’ top-level domain dedicated to business by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). NeuLevel is also the exclusive Registry Gateway Operator for ‘.cn’ and ‘.tw’, the Chinese and Taiwanese country domain names, respectively.

Commenting on the alliance, Richard Tindal, Vice President, Registry Services, NeuLevel, said, "Net 4 India is undoubtedly a leader in the domain names market in India. With the company’s strong nationwide presence, high quality infrastructure and support systems, we will be able to design and manage the ‘.in’ domain registry at par with international standards."

Speaking on the alliance Jasjit Sawhney, CEO, Net 4 India said, "In today’s global environment it has become imperative for companies to have a web presence. Countries like US, China, Australia already have their country specific domain names. It is the right time for us to use ‘.in’ domain names to bring an international brand identity to Indian companies."

"Net 4 India has sold over two hundred thousand domain names till date and enjoys a strong presence in 11 major cities of the country," said Sawhney. "Leveraging our complimentary strengths, we believe that together with NeuLevel we have put forth a strong proposal to NIXI. We are confident of a positive result."

On October 27, the department of IT had decided to revamp the ‘.in’ domain name registration, making it as cheap as owning a ‘.com’ domain name. The second-level domain names were to be available at Rs. 500 onwards while third-level domain names were set at Rs. 250 and upwards.
